A British press report issued today confirmed that Arsenal's Spanish coach, Mikel Arteta, rejected a major deal from the French League to boost the Gunners attack during the elapsed winter Mercato, following the departure of Gabonese Pierre Emeric Aubameyang towards Barcelona.
According to the British newspaper, The Athletic, Mauro Icardi, the French player of Paris Saint-Germain, was one of the options offered by the Arsenal administration to sign her, but was surprised by Arteta's refusal, who confirmed that he did not need him and that he trusted the abilities of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Niketiah to lead the attack in the coming period.
The newspaper pointed out that the Paris Saint-Germain administration was open to negotiating Icardi's departure for the Gunners, due to their desire to lower the salary ceiling before the end of next June.
It is noteworthy that Mauro Icardi had joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2020 permanently from Inter Milan, with a value of 50 million euros, after he played for them a season on loan.
It is noteworthy that Icardi, 29, played for Paris Saint-Germain in 87 matches, during which he scored 38 goals, most of them as a substitute player.
