Manchester City files a grievance after suspending its player

Manchester City have asked UEFA to ban three matches for attacking Kyle Walker in the Champions League.

Walker was sent off for a blow to RB Leipzig striker Andre Silva during December's group stage defeat and will miss two round-of-16 matches against Sporting Lisbon.

City initially agreed to the suspension and succumbed to the lack of a right-back for a potential quarter-final debut if they advance.

However, they have looked at other precedents in recent seasons and believe the punishment is strong and want to reduce disqualifications.

Inter midfielder Nicolo Parilla has been suspended for two games for hitting Real Madrid's Eder Militao in the leg on the night Walker was disqualified.
